Some of our Projects

We are seeking a Workshop Technicianto join our growing manufacturing team and help out on some exciting projects.

Projects worked on range from Autonomous Vehicles for Mining, Robotics Devices for Industry, Rugged IoT sensors for Industry, Consumer Bicycle Products for Mountain Bikers and so much more, all undertaken in-house to extremely high quality within a growing multidisciplinary team. 

Our engineers work with our clients to devise cutting edge designs. We then use our state-of-the-art in-house machines and facilities to manufacture and test prototypes, break things, iterate and work toward production ready designs. 

Our equipment allows us to produce prototypes for our designs, and test them in the fastest possible timeframe, and then move to batch production once designs are tried and tested. 

We have high-end CNC machinery, as well as an Electronics Pick and Place Assembly line, allowing for the fastest possible prototyping as well as production of high-quality parts for our clients and projects. 

We also have 3D printing facilities, workshop fabrication facilities, laboratory testing type facilities, an in-house anodising laboratory and injection moulding; all of which have become part of our day-to-day work at Element Engineering. These capabilities contribute to the creation of high-value products and our commitment to local manufacturing.

The Role

We are looking for a full time Workshop Technician to work with our growing manufacturing team and engineers, and create the best possible innovations, as fast as possible, for our clients. 

As part of the role, you will be undertaking the following:

  • Light duty mechanical fitting, assembling and testing of systems we have created
  • Wiring of low voltage systems for testing and automation of systems
  • Laboratory style operation and documentation of test systems we have created 
  • Assembly and testing of products being contract manufactured in-house for our clients  
  • General machine operation for small batch production runs across CNC, Pick and Place, 3D Printing and Injection Moulding
  • Small batch production operation of anodising laboratory for high quality, low volume type 2 anodised parts
  • Coordination with specific trades for ancilliary services such as coded welding 
  • General workshop maintenance as well as planning and improvements

Salary will be negotiable dependant on skills brought to the team. We are looking for the best people, to help us take innovation and local manufacturing to the next level! 

Position Requirements

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Motivated and passionate about manufacturing and brings a proactive approach to the broad range of workshop challenges that will be thrown at you
  • Demonstrated experience working hands on in a, trade, operator or technician role for a period of 5 years or more 
  • Desirable but not essential, Certificate 3 or above in a hands on, technical trade 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required to interface with manufacturing and engineering staff 
  • Reasonable IT skills to communicate and document effectively using MS Teams, Word, Excel and Windows PC's 

Optional, but highly recommended:

  • Present a portfolio of professional or personal technician work completed showing your specific skills and unique value you can bring to Element Engineering
