The Department
Established in early 2018, the Department of Neuroscience, is one of the largest academic departments in the School of Translational Medicine (Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University) at Monash University, and also one of the first university academic departments in Australia dedicated to developing and providing solutions for patients with neurological conditions. We partner closely with the Alfred Health healthcare service, in particular the Alfred Brain program and are a member of the Alfred Research Alliance, a research hub located at The Alfred Hospital.
The Cognitive Health Initiative, led by Professor Amy Brodtmann, is a newly formed team within the Department of Neuroscience. Prof Amy Brodtmann and her team are global leaders in human cognitive neuroscience research. Her research focuses on the links between stroke, vascular risk factors and neurodegeneration, with an interest in imaging brain network degenerations following stroke and the diagnosis and management of focal onset dementias.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Research Administration Officer to provide high-level administrative support to the Cognitive Health Initiative headed by Professor Amy Brodtmann.
The role will involve diary management, coordination of team meetings, management of consumable and equipment purchasing, the preparation of ethics applications, grant reports and research agreements, as well as other duties as required time-to-time.
The successful candidate will be confident problem solver who operates with a focus on timely and accurate administrative support.
Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum 2 years of administration experience within a clinical, healthcare services and/or academic setting (desirable)
- Strong organisation skills including the ability to work consistently and effectively at all times and take the initiative to run with projects and tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, organise own tasks and work effectively as a member of a team to achieve project goals and meet agreed deadlines
- Be solution-based and responsive - ability to problem solve and plan coherent responses to administrative issues as they arise
- Proven written and oral communication skills, with the ability to liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong IT skills, with the ability to learn new software systems as required and provide IT support to the team
