The opportunity
We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Research Assistant(s) to join our team for an exciting new research project. The Enhanced Management of home-Based Elders with Depression (EMBED) trial will determine the effectiveness of a new model of care to address depression among older people who receive aged care services at home. The successful applicant(s) will play a crucial role in data collection, participant screening, and recruitment activities. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a valuable research project and gain experience in the field.
Responsibilities:
- Daily calls for recruitment of participants.
- Assist in the collection of clinical trial data.
- Conduct screening, assessment, and data collection via telephone calls, adhering to the protocol and standard operating procedures.
- Assess suicide risk, using a validated risk assessment protocol.
- General administrative tasks including scheduling and organising appointments for participants.
- Collaborate with the research team on recruitment strategies, trends, and reports on recruitment activity.
- Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, data protection regulations and local policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements:
- Fourth year degree (i.e., Honours, Graduate Diploma) in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social sciences, nursing, public health).
- Previous experience working in a research-focused role (ideally in health or social science), for at least 12 months.
- Demonstrated experience conducting a range of research activities, including participant recruitment and the collection and entry of research data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effectively engaging with potential participants.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the research team, including from home.
Desirable Requirements:
- Familiarity with data management platforms such as REDCap.
- Understanding of research governance and ethical requirements.
- Experience working with older adults.
