Job TitleResearch Assistant - Bioimage Analysis CoreJob DescriptionAn excellent opportunity is available for a Research Assistant to join the Bioimage Analysis Core of the Centre for Dynamic Imaging in the Advanced Technology and Biology Division at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.About the PositionThe Bioimage Analysis Core in the Centre for Dynamic Imaging at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, provides researchers with access to expertise and cutting-edge knowledge and resources for the analysis of a wide range of biological imaging techniques ranging from light-sheet, confocal, and widefield microsocpy, micro-CT and spatial-omics methods. We are seeking a highly motivated and well organised image analyst with qualifications in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics, bioinformatics or a related field. The successful candidate will possess advanced computer skills in programming using Python or Java and experience working with image analysis software, such as FIJI/ImageJ, QuPath, napari, Scikit-image, Matlab, Imaris or similar. An essential part of the role will be to provide expert assistance with the analysis of content rich datasets, such as those generated by spatial-omics methods such as Merscope, Xenium and MIBIscope. This will include the development of automated analysis pipelines and the evaluation of new methods of analysis, which are tailored to individual projects. Any prior experience in working with spatial-omics datasets will be advantageous. Knowledge of, and experience in using, a range of optical microscopy techniques is desirable, but not required.
