The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chair of Optometry Research, this role will contribute to several research projects as required, which will include working with a variety of research volunteers from young children through to older adults to collect high quality research data. This position is being offered on a part-time (up to 30 hours per week) maximum term basis of one year with possibility of further extension.
Key responsibilities include:
- Research data collection from volunteers attending for research studies associated with the Visual Function team (this involves a variety of clinical and non-clinical assessments)
- Appropriate management of the research data collected, utilising relevant LEI and UWA electronic systems.
- Working with other members of the research team to prepare research data for analysis and publication.
- Working in multidisciplinary teams to achieve research outcomes.
- Communication with research participants of varying ages and backgrounds.
- Preparation of written research documents in collaboration with other members of the team.
- Working with other researchers at different career stages including research students.
- Research data management consistent with research governance standards.
- Interaction with EMR and research-based software systems.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Vision Science, Optometry, Orthoptics, or a related discipline.
- Experience in Clinical Vision assessments, either clinically or in a research context.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new research skills.
- Experience and willingness to work in a team environment.
Desirable Criteria:
- A clinical eyecare qualification (eg optometrist, orthoptist) with registration to practice in Australia.
- Research experience in the vision sciences.
- Experience with research data management or health data management.
