The Research Assistant is responsible for supporting the Faculty's researchers using a combination of generalist and specialist research skills. The role has a key focus on delivering discrete research assistance assignments as part of the Faculty's overall research support framework. The Research Office enables the Faculty of Arts' strategic aim of achieving research excellence and impact.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver research assistance assignments according to each assignment's required scope, quality, and timeframe
- Scope requests for research assistance in accordance with applicable service parameters
- Support the Senior Research Development Coordinator to triage requests for research assistance
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including regarding time spent on assignments, and contribute to reporting as required
You will utilise your highly desirable coordination abilities to liase with colleagues in the Research Office to deliver work collaboratively, while also ensuring an overall high quality of service provision to Faculty of Arts researchers.
You will also have:
- Minimum Honours-level qualification in a humanities or social science or other relevant discipline.
- Excellent skills in one or more of the following required capabilities:
- Editing and proofreading academic writing
- Critically appraising research literature and synthesising knowledge from scholarly databases, and utilising relevant databases and reference management software to produce various types of reviews
- Data collection, management, and analysis (for example, using software such as NVivo)
- Qualitative research methods (for example, interviews, surveys and statistical analysis)
- Translation skills or a high level of competency in one or more languages other than English
