Research Assistant, Neuroscience

• Full time, fixed term till October 2024
• Exciting opportunity to join our research team located in the Charles Perkins Centre and Sydney Pharmacy School.
• Base Salary from $79,717 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

Our team of researchers lead internationally competitive research from molecules to medicine across a range of therapeutic areas. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Elena Bagley and will work on defining new cellular targets for the treatment of opioid addiction and chronic pain. You will play a key role using your quantitative and qualitative skills to collect data and work on various research components. As a Research Assistant you will participate in the design, development and evaluation of the how endogenous opioids alter neural function to support the development of compulsive drug use and chronic pain.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support our team on projects based around Neuroscience

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• carry out experiments and research in alignment with protocols set by senior team members
• collect, record and analyze datasets
• provide research administrative support as required e.g., record keeping, maintain inventory, organizing equipment maintenance
• ensure that WHS, ethics guidelines and standards requirements are met in the area of work.

About you

• have experience in research-intensive environments
• have experience in developing and working on research projects
• have expertise and experience in brain microinjection in preclinical models
• have expertise and experience in behavioral training or testing in preclinical models
• advanced skills in data analysis using statistical analysis tools and reporting on research findings
• strong understanding of the relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety policies.
