Researchers at Telethon Kids Institute conduct a wide variety of projects investigating the mental health of infants, children, adolescents and young people. The Wellbeing Project aims to implementa trauma-informed psychosocial intervention to improve health outcomes of children and young people with Type-1 diabetes. This study is part of a wider stream of work focused on childhood trauma and mental health and is supported by Embrace @ Telethon Kids.
We are now seeking a part-time Research Assistant to provide a wide range of support to our Wellbeing study team. Working alongside our Senior Research Officer, focus groups, intervention participants and other Research Assistants, you will take on a key role in engaging and recruiting participants into the study which will include conducting assessments of young people to determine eligibility for the intervention.
Previous experience working with young people and/ or people with mental health concerns combined with a passion to connect with people from diverse backgrounds will therefore be crucial in this position.
Apart from participant-facing activities, you will also have the opportunity to be involved in:
- Database management and analysis of research findings.
- Preparation of research findings through different dissemination strategies.
- Communicate and work collaboratively with all stakeholders across the program including service providers, the community consultation group, research team members, the Institute's communications team.
- Organisation of events and meetings.
- Ensure compliance with data requirements and reporting.
About You
This position would suit someone with an undergraduate degree in health science along with the following skills and experiences:
- Experience working with young people and people with mental health concerns.Highly developed interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships and working collaboratively with key stakeholders at various levels.
- Proficient skills in managing data collection databases on REDCap
- Ability to work with and respect diverse people, including Aboriginal, culturally diverse and gender diverse people.
