Job Overview

The successful candidate will fit within Preqin's research team and take on a role primarily focused on building relationships with, researching and updating information on Australian fund managers with the goal of obtaining data that cannot be obtained from any third-party source. This data includes investment portfolios, performance, strategy and other information useful for our end users.

Daily duties involve communicating and maintaining relationships with data sources both new and within Preqin's network to obtain the latest information, as well as understanding and incorporating such data

into our online database in an accurate and concise manner for our end users to access on the Preqin Platform. These points of contacts are usually top-level executives at investment institutions, so the role would be great for someone to quickly get into the finance industry.

The successful candidate is responsible for the maintenance and growth of Preqin's fund manager databases and products and will have the opportunity to contribute towards the production of Preqin's leading financial publications when required. Additionally, the researcher has opportunities to conduct in depth analyses of the data set to infer trends and partner with Research Insights to contribute to blogs and other forms of content accessible to customers of Preqin.

Full training relevant to the role will be provided, including but not limited to:

  • Structured training on finance and alternatives industry
  • Guidance and Mentorship on relationship building with data sources

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Update online databases with key financial information, statistics and analysis on which our clients depend on.
  • Maintain relationships with fund managers via telephone, email or in person.
  • Conduct web-based research for further information of fund managers.
  • Communicate and coordinatine with the wider team to ensure profiles are updated accurately and in a timely manner, and to convey issues and solutions.
  • Use computer-based business applications, including Microsoft Excel, to analyse large data sets and to control for quality and accuracy.
  • Candidates may be required to write blogs and research reports occasionally, perform analysis and generate reports for clients on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Complete other tasks as/when required.

Qualifications

You are a good fit if:

  • Bachelor's Degree holder required. Finance, Economics, Business or other industry relevant specialisation preferred
  • Fresh Graduates welcome! Internship or up to 2 years of working experience in a finance related or communicative role would be very helpful
  • Prior relevant experience in finance/alternative assets preferred
  • Enthusiastic and confident individuals with an eye for detail
  • Strong communications skills necessary to build relationships with high-level executives
  • Willing to take initiatives with analytical skills
