  • Remuneration: $105,466 to $114,196 (HEW6) (inclusive of $89,120 to $96,497 pa salary; 17% superannuation; and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
  • Location: Banyo Pilot Plant Precinct

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Research Data Analyst - Energy Storage Research Group to join School of Chemistry and Physics, Faculty of Science, Academic Division.

The Energy Storage Research Group conducts research that is focussed on growing capabilities. Our mission is to investigate, understand and overcome the technical challenges inherent with translating research from laboratory scale to pilot scale and beyond. This is critical in support of advancing the capabilities of industry and academia to perform translational research in the Energy Storage sector.The group is currently in an expansion phase and is seeking an enthusiastic new member to the team to support project delivery. The successful applicant will assist in designing and implementing more robust data management and dynamic analysis capabilities.The Research Data Analyst will have the opportunity to apply their creativity, design and implementation skills to a field that is critical for tackling climate change and is also growing at a fast pace. This will give the successful candidate the opportunity to build skills and experience that are expected to be in very high demand in the future.

About the School of Chemistry and Physics
The School of Chemistry and Physics is leading teaching and research advances at the frontiers of the physical and chemical sciences to solve real-world scientific challenges. We cover a diverse range of research topics, ranging from the incredibly small (such as atoms and single molecules) to the exceptionally large (supermassive blackholes). The School conducts frontier research investigating not only the fundamental aspects of matter but also how it interacts with light, radiation or plasma, and exploits the interaction for transformative materials research that enables real-world devices and applications. What will you do in the School of Chemistry and Physics?
  • Undertake collaborative, interdisciplinary research.
  • Carry out your research using state-of-the-art facilities with access to millions of dollars of cutting-edge scientific instrumentation.
  • Utilise scientific rigor in the documenting and reporting of your innovative results.
  • Work with a large, collegial cohort of HDR students to build a strong sense of community.
  • Train with expert peers who are recognised internationally for their achievements.
  • Partner with a variety of academic and industrial organisations.
  • Connect with a range of end-users and potential employers, from start-up companies, government agencies all the way to multi-national corporations.

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of a degree in conjunction with subsequent relevant experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: data visualisation, statistics, Microsoft 365 Environment development (SharePoint admin or similar), machine learning.
  3. Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: M-query, DAX, VBA, SQL, Python, (or Matlab or similar numerical computing environment with a willingness to learn M-query and DAX or VBA).
  4. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and some experience in delivering data analytical outcomes or designing solutions that meet the needs of researchers.
  5. Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills showing the ability to connect and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and work effectively within a team and other stakeholders.
  6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to a culture that is committed to continuous improvement and innovation, and to the health and safety of its staff and environment.
