Our Client, a large Federal Government Department with offices in Fairbairn (ACT), Fisherman's Bend (VIC) & Edinburgh (SA) are offering an exciting opportunity for 6 months to assist in the development and support of their IT Infrastructure.
The role will leverage existing technical skills while also offering an opportunity to further develop skills alongside a highly experience software engineer. The platforms adopt latest web development technologies while also leveraging a CI/CD model for development tasks so this is a great opportunity to further develop a highly sort skillset.
Duties:
- Assist in the final implementation, testing and configuration of an upgraded Science & Technology Reports platform. This may include:
- Determining security configuration to restrict access to various reports depending on document classification and Defence announcement and release/circulate caveats
- Perform final configuration of the platform to ensure desired functionality is operating as expected
- Modification of the existing UI to adopt Defence styling and cater for our end user needs
- Upgrade server infrastructure to ensure latest software patched and security updates are applied
- Perform re-installation of software when moving to the upgraded server infrastructure
Essential criteria:
- Understanding of document classification and Defence announcement and release/circulate caveats
Some previous technical experience or the ability to adapt to the following skills:
- Web Methodologies (NodeJS, Typescript, CSS)
- Linux administration and Web Application configuration (Apache, Tomcat, Solr) o Modifying and deploying backend and frontend web applications using Java, NodeJS, Yarn and PM2
- PostgreSQL Database installation & configuration o Apache Solr Search Service configuration & usage
- Creation and configuration of Virtual Servers to host web applications o Deployment of web applications via CI/CD pipelines with the ability to customise pipelines
Desirable criteria:
- Configuration experience with the open source repository software package DSpace
- Configuration experience with the open source Research Data Management Tool ReDBox
- Linux administration skills
- Advanced Web Application configuration experience and scripting experience with common languages such as Python
