In collaboration with Professor Mark Shackleton, you'll conceive, design, and conduct independent research, contributing to the project “Understanding melanocyte biology to treat vitiligo and melanoma”. This project aims to understand the cellular processes that result in vitiligo and melanoma formation, and to translate the findings into new treatments. Towards this, we are pioneering novel cell isolation techniques to purify melanocytes from transgenic mice and patient skin specimens collected via the Alfred Cancer Biobank, and performing detailed analyses to understand the nature, function and relationships of these cells.Your responsibilities extend beyond your research, including laboratory maintenance, occasional teaching and supervision of research students, and participation in professional activities.We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with a track record of refereed research publications in the field(s) of translational dermatology, stem cells, and/or cancer biology. Demonstrate your analytical and manuscript preparation skills as you navigate complex challenges in the world of biomedical research. Your expertise in successfully conducting hands-on cell and molecular biology experiments in an academic wet lab environment, using mouse and/or human models will set you apart.Be a catalyst for change, participating in laboratory maintenance, informal teaching, and mentoring junior staff and students.
