  • Part-time (0.6 FTE) and fixed term to 20 December 2023
  • Level B $104,619 - $123,739 (pro rata) + 17% Superannuation

The Research Fellow will initiate and conduct research in the area of trauma, addictions, aggression or anti-social behaviour. The Research Fellow is expected to contribute to the research output of the Centre for Drug Use, Addictive and Anti-social behaviour Research (CEDAAR).

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Writing grants and papers under the direction of the Director of CEDAAR.
  • Contributing to research projects and collaborations to create new insights and opportunities
  • Initiating, designing, and conducting and may lead productive, high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs
  • Engage collaboratively to develop novel and high-quality research or creative activities
  • Widely communicates outputs to discipline(s) and the community
  • Ensuring impact of academic activity in the field and the community
  • Initiating, designing, conducting and may lead in development of industry partnerships and collaboration to enable major breakthroughs, innovative solutions for future translation into real world impact
  • Supervising honours and/or HDR students with timely completions and productive, high-quality outcomes
  • Providing effective mentoring to HDR students to support professional and career development and employability
Key selection criteria for this role:
  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Demonstrated skills in the publication of research journal articles, conference papers, report, or professional or technical contributions and / or demonstrated skills in the preparation of research manuscripts
  • Demonstrated skills in the coordination of data collection, data recording, analysis and use
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct high quality research
  • Demonstrated organisational skills including the demonstrated ability to maintain a high standard of laboratory and data record keeping and a demonstrated ability to meet competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with (and or negotiate with) research clients
  • Experience in working with computer-based data acquisition and analysis systems
  • Ability to develop collaborative work teams and to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
  • Experience conducting quantitative or qualitative research into trauma, addictions/substance use, aggression or anti-social behaviour
  • In-depth understanding of the pathways to trauma, addiction, aggression and anti-social behaviour * desirable
  • Demonstrated skills in the publication of research journal articles * desirable
  • Demonstrated skills in the preparation of research manuscripts *desirable
  • Familiarity with website maintenance *desirable
