Salary: Level B - $114,645 to $136,136 p.a. plus 17% super

About the Role

Join our team to support vital research projects in hydrology and Water Resources, focusing on the implications of Climate Change in the southern Murray Darling Basin and hydro-economic modeling. As a key technical contributor, you'll collaborate with an internationally recognized team, conducting analysis and modeling to advance research initiatives addressing water availability, demands, and decision-making in the face of a variable and changing climate.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake hydrological analysis and modelling contributing your team’s research agenda, including but not limited to large scale modelling of natural and human environmental systems under a variable and changing climate;
  • Assist in the development of Water Resource models at multi-basin scales to support planning under Climate Change;
  • Write technical reports on the outputs of the research conducted, and maintain accurate and detailed records of all analysis conducted;
  • Participate in preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals;

Who We Are Looking For

You will possess excellent interpersonal skills, facilitating effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders, including academic, administrative, and support staff. Additionally, you should showcase demonstrated project management skills, displaying organisational and time management proficiency.

You will also have:

  • A PhD in Environmental Engineering, or closely related discipline, or industry experience in a related discipline;
  • Ability to perform independent research under supervision and a commitment to interdisciplinary research;
  • Demonstrated ability in analysing data, problem solving and maintaining accurate research records;
  • Computer skills including using and adapting scientific computer code. Familiarity with coding software such as Python, R or Matlab.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
