An exciting opportunity to manage the overall operational and administrative services in support of the Director of the Plant Breeding Institute (PBI)
Base Salary $104,633 - $113,992 p.a. (HEO7) + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Faculty of Science is currently looking for a Research Manager to manage the overall operational and administrative services in support of the Director of the Plant Breeding Institute (PBI), and at the discretion of the Director and members of the research team. This includes collating progress reports and summarising outcomes on the progress of the research (including assisting in reporting to external funding bodies), ensuring project milestones are met in a timely manner, providing assistance with sourcing grant funding and budgeting, and collaboration with academics and research professionals to achieve the goals of the Institute and School.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
support the Director in providing effective program management for the research being undertaken by the Plant Breeding Institute (PBI)
provide executive support for the Director including travel arrangements, management of travel expenses in Concur, diary management, drafting correspondence and completing HR paperwork
manage overall general administrative services and operational support of the research unit
provide financial management and funding oversight for research programs for the Plant Breeding Institute (PBI)
provide administrative services and support for grant applications and ongoing reporting for the Director
manage key stakeholder relationships, events and communications, including liaising with centralised services and the Faculty of Science / School of Life and Environmental Science.
About you

a degree in Science or relevant field (desirable)
excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, complex situations, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters
working knowledge of software programs such as Hyperion Reporting System, Concur, Records Management, and Content Management Systems
working understanding of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation, including Safe Laboratory Practices, as applicable to the work environment
demonstrated experience in Research Management.
