About the Role:
The Research Officer (Social Data Analyst) is primarily responsible supporting the Social Science team in social research data analysis, generating insights and building and maintaining presentations and dashboards for tracking studies and ad-hoc research projects measuring environmental sentiment and behaviours in NSW community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake Research and Analysis: Utilise social science methodologies and analytical techniques to analyse social research data related to environmental sentiment and behaviours in the NSW community. Generate actionable insights from data analysis to support decision-making within the Social Science team and contribute to tracking studies and ad-hoc research projects.
- Maintain Collaborative Networks: Build and maintain collaborative relationships within the Social Science team, providing technical and analytical support as needed. Liaise with external stakeholders such as consultants, government agencies, and research providers to access relevant data sources and insights for research projects.
- Provide Timely Advice and Communication: Offer timely technical and analytical assistance to team members, ensuring that social research data analysis meets appropriate standards of scientific rigor and best practices. Communicate insights effectively through presentations, dashboards, and reports to facilitate informed decision-making regarding environmental sentiment and behaviours.
- Contribute to Team Building and Knowledge Management: Actively participate in team discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions, contributing social science expertise to enhance research methodologies and data analysis techniques. Document best practices, data sources, and analytical approaches for knowledge management within the team.
- Prepare Project Documents and Deliver Presentations: Design and build social or behavioural data presentation dashboards using tools like DisplayR, PowerBI, or similar platforms to track studies and research projects.
- Deliver clear and concise presentations on social research findings and insights to internal and external stakeholders, emphasizing the relevance to environmental, sustainability, or environmental education themes.
- Tertiary qualifications in social sciences
- Good working knowledge of contemporary social or behavioural research best practice and standards
- Excellent social / market research quantitative data analysis skills. We are looking for strong Excel skills and experience using Q Research software and SPSS (incl Cluster, Factor and Regression analysis).
- Experience designing and building social or behavioural data presentation dashboards (DisplayR, PowerBI or similar)
- High degree of accuracy
- Experience in delivering social research in environmental space (e.g. sustainability, environmental education, climate change impacts)
- Sound working knowledge of online scripting tools (e.g. Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, Confirmit or similar)
- Back-end programming skills (Javascript, R script, HTML).
