About our surgical practice
Our practice is a collaborative and supportive workplace. We are two General Surgeons working in the setting of Quaternary Teaching Hospitals in Brisbane. We have one of Australia’s largest public and private practices in Abdominal Wall Reconstruction/ventral hernia repair. We are high volume surgeons who look after patients with complex needs. We value excellence in surgical care and research to improve outcomes for our patients. Our surgical practice has an established and integrated commitment to research, with a proven publication record.

Your responsibilities will be to:
- Conduct statistical analysis of data from our established clinical database for contribution to research publications
- Assist with database curation and expansion
- Contribute to the writing and submission of research ethics proposals
- Communicate with patients as part of approved research activities
- Attend regular multidisciplinary meetings and record keep
About you
We are seeking a motivated and highly competent team member with medical experience or knowledge or keen interest in it. The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:
- Essential: relevant degree or equivalent in statistics or biostatistics
- Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis of research data
- Experience in preparing and reporting results for peer reviewed publications, reports, and presentations
- Demonstrated research experience with ethics applications and coordination of project specific tasks
- Experience with the management of datasets
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrate competency in managing complex workload with high level of accuracy
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
This position is approximately 10 - 15 hours per week, with flexible hours and working arrangements. May suit a PhD student already working in clinical trails for example, or a statistician looking for supplementary or part time work.
