This role can be based in either Townsville Cairns, Mackay or Brisbane.The Research Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation and evaluation of a community-based research project focused on understanding and addressing the challenges faced by carers in the Far-North Queensland and Mackay Region. • Bachelor's or Master's degree in social sciences, public health, community development, or a related field.
• Proven experience in conducting community-based research, including data collection, analysis, and report writing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of ethical guidelines and best practices in research ethics and data management.
• Experience working in remote or Indigenous communities and an understanding of cultural sensitivities and protocols is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo) and Microsoft Office suite.

Please note: Regular travel to will be required, as such you must be comfortable with travelling by road and on occasion, light aircraft, and possess a current unrestricted Australian Driver's License.The details:

• Commencement date: June 2024
• Duration: approx 6 months
• Salary: $90,000 to $110,000 (pro rata) commensurate with experience.
• Travel: all associated travelling involved in this role will be covered by NWRH.
