About the role

A terrific opportunity exists for a Research Specialist, reporting to our Marketing Strategy Manager. This role is responsible for conducting primary market, customer and industry research that will inform strategic outcomes. Working closely with all departments, you will use data and insights to monitor customer needs, identify commercial opportunities and make recommendations to improve sales pipelines or existing products/services. You’ll be an analyst who can translate findings into actions and work across the business to position MCEC as a leader in its industry and deliver long term success.

1. You will have proven research and analysis experience, working closely with all departments, adding value, and providing recommendations for best-in-class outcomes. 

What you’re here to do

• Manage and coordinate primary market research to identify commercial opportunities and to undertake business gap analysis 
• Continually monitor market trends and provide regular competitor analysis, nationally and globally 
• Execute customer research to identify service/product improvement opportunities 
• Utilise internal customer data, and external data sources to develop deeper knowledge, and deliver actionable insights that will deliver sales or CX improvements
• Conduct research on industry sectors, government priorities and strategies, research centres and institutes, companies, and associations to inform MCEC strategic priorities
• Be hands-on in analysing both qualitative and quantitative data to draw insights into business outcomes
• Respond to research briefs and provide recommendations on methodology approach 
• Implement ad hoc market research where required 
• Implement and maintain process for sharing of market insights and actionable outcomes across the business
• Support the wider research and marketing team where required 

What you will need

• Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline as researcher or analyst or demonstrated experience in a similar role involved in market research and insights
• Ability to interpret large amounts of data and apply well-developed problem-solving skills
• Adequate knowledge of data collection methods
• Familiarity with CRM programs
• Possess a dynamic and curious mindset
• Embraces change & continuous improvement
• Team focused approach
• Keen attention to detail and outstanding organisational and planning skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
