As part of the R&D Department, you will design new electrical and mechanical systems for airborne exploration. You will assemble and test prototypes and subassemblies, finding critical solutions to important problems.

Every day is a new challenge, and a new learning experience, to name but a few:
- Electronics - ranging from PCB design, assembly of Surface Mount and Power Technologies, system wiring, fault finding.
- Mechanical manufacturing covering an entire range of abilities from composite materials to metal work, including design, supplier, and hands on fabrication.
- Programming in support of the electromechanical systems.
- Usage of electronic and mechanical tools (including Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analysers, Pick and Place, 3D printers, Laser Cutter, and CNC machines).
- Technical writing and people skills for manuals and teaching / passing on the required knowledge to the day-to-day operators of the Geophysical equipment.
- Liaising with suppliers for timeous delivery of components and materials, whilst keeping records for future manufacturing and ensuring the standards of the aviation industry are met.
Suggested knowledge and experience required for the position:
- Technical understanding of electronics and mechanics.
- Hands-on experience in Electronic and Mechanical manufacture.
- Experience in mechanical and electronic tools and instrumentation.
- Ability to work well within a team of different professions as well as
- Capable of working independently with little to no supervision or instruction.
