The Organisation:

About the Position

Residential Youth Workers are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for young individuals to foster their personal and social development. With a passion for empowering youth, they bring a compassionate approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaboratively address the unique needs of each resident.

Key Outcomes
Position responsibilities    

  • Undertake a range of activities requiring the application of established work procedures within clearly established procedures and/or guidelines.
  • Respond to enquiries, assist with administrative functions / special projects, and achieve outcomes which are clearly defined.
  • Provide support requiring the exercise of sound judgment, initiative, confidentiality, and sensitivity in the performance of work.

Work, Health and Safety responsibilities

  • Accepts responsibility for own and others safety.
  • Actively participates in consultation about work, health, and safety issues.
  • Identifies and reports hazards and incidents and identifies risk controls where appropriate.

Organisational responsibilities 

  • Demonstrates appropriate and professional workplace behaviours that are in line with Anglicare NQ Policy and Procedures.
  • Actively promotes and role models behaviours that are consistent with the Anglicare NQ values of Compassion, Integrity, Respect, Inclusion and Courage
  • Understands the organisational expectation that as a team member, employees must, wherever possible and practicable, act in the best interests and, minimise harm to others (clients, other employees, contractors, and volunteers).  
  • Actively participates in Anglicare NQ’s Employee Review and Development process.
  • Actively speaks up, reports and challenges bias and intolerance with the workplace, e.g., misconduct, illegal and inappropriate behaviour, conflicts of interest, racism and bullying and harassment.

  • Develops and delivers on the ANQ Team Based Role Requirements and Work Plan for this position.

Key Relationships    

  • Works collaboratively with Anglicare NQ Executives, Managers, Staff and Volunteers.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with Anglicare NQ partners, other Non-Government Organisations (NGO) and local community businesses.
  • QLD and Commonwealth Government Departments, e.g., Department of Human Services, Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs and other government departments as required.

Special Conditions

  • Hold a current QLD drivers licence ‘Class C’ or interstate equivalent
  • Blue Card (Working with children card)
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification
  • Satisfactory Employment Screening Assessment(s) required for this role in line with Anglicare NQ Policy:
    - National Policy Check
    - LCS2
  • Out of hours may be required from time to time
  • Client transportation required and/or client visitation outside of the office required

Selection Criteria
Essential

  • Basic skills in oral and written communication with clients and public members
  • Knowledge of established work practices, procedures and policies
  • Appropriate certificate relevant to work being performed 
  • Experience in relevant industry or Diploma if no experience industry 

Highly Regarded

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities. 
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
