HSBC serves the needs of retail, corporate and institutional clients delivering innovative and integrated financial solutions. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a sub function of HSBC's Group Risk. Its purpose is to make sure HSBC understands and is in control of its non-financial risk position. Risk Specialists provide expert advice covering specific the risk types of Transaction Processing, Business Interruption, Model Risk (amongst others). In country risk specialists will also operate within a regional specialist community. The role holder will maintain close working relationships with the wider ERM team, locally, regionally and globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and support to the ERM team as well as work in conjunction with the first line of defence.
- Support the ERM Business & Functions teams to ensure effectiveness of current control, develop and implement non-financial risk framework and to explain impact of issues and events.
- Monitor the local external environment to get early sight of emerging risks, provide detailed guidance on controls required to mitigate against them and ensure local operational issues and events are fully understood and treated.
- Stakeholder management by building and maintaining relevant organisational and industry relationships
- Deliver tailored and specific expertise across Australia enabling first line of defence to successfully deploy and operate mitigating key controls.
- Provide technical guidance to support development and completion of Enterprise Risk and Regulatory reporting obligations (e.g. RAS, Top & Emerging Risks, Risk Profile Reporting, RMM, Board reporting where relevant, etc)
- Lead Australia regulator and audit engagement pertaining to risk types
- Support training and capability uplift for the ERM team and to the wider HSBC community.
- Additional specific Country responsibilities may be added to this position at the direction of the CRCO and the country reporting line.
Requirements
Key Requirements
- Exceptional business knowledge and experience of financial services.
- High level risk management knowledge and relevant experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the internal control environment within banking or financial sector.
- A Bachelor degree in a related field.
- Professional certificate in one or more Risk Resilience specialist disciplines.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
