Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Retail Buyer to join our team. The Retail Buyer will play a critical role in ensuring that our inventory meets the high standards our customers expect. This position involves selecting and purchasing quality products, evaluating suppliers, and managing inventory levels. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and a passion for ensuring product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Procurement:
• Identify and source new products that align with our brands, Steel Power Shelving and DeskOne.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality products.
• Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best deals for the company.
Supplier Evaluation:
• Assess and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure they meet the company’s standards for quality, reliability, and price.
• Conduct regular reviews of existing suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards and contractual terms.
• Manage supplier performance, addressing any issues or concerns promptly to maintain a smooth supply chain.
Quality Assurance:
• Inspect and evaluate products to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards before purchasing.
• Work closely with the quality control team to develop and implement product quality standards.
• Monitor product performance and customer feedback to identify any quality issues and work with suppliers to resolve them.
Inventory Management:
• Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand without overstocking.
• Analyse sales trends and market conditions to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Collaborate with the logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and proper storage of products.
Market Analysis:
• Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and customer preferences.
• Use market insights to make strategic purchasing decisions that enhance the company’s product offerings and competitiveness.
• Provide recommendations for new product lines or discontinuation of underperforming products.
Reporting and Documentation:
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier contracts, and inventory levels.
• Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and product quality.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• At least bachelor’s degree in related field.
• At least two years of relevant experience.
Skills:
• Proven experience as a Retail Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably in the ecommerce
or retail industry.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software.
• Knowledge of the warehouse shelving and office furniture markets is a plus
