This role will involve setting Design Vision, formulating and documenting Asset Business Plans, Tenancy Design, Design Management of multiple sites, predominantly.
Key Responsibilities
As Retail Design Manager, the key responsibilities are as follows:
Driving design vision: Retail Tenancy Briefing, Design Review and Sign-Off. Creative Design Management, Ambience Design Review and Sign-Off.
Business Unit Management:
Support General Manager Leasing and Divisional Design Manager to deliver the financial objectives of the business unit, including support for invoicing / billings and fees, expenses and travel management and any initiatives required from the business.
Promote the Design Team as industry creative leaders.
Stakeholder management: execute communication plan to DPMs & Centres and other stakeholders as required.

Qualifications
Ideally 7-10 years experience post qualification of Tertiary qualification in a Interior Design or Architecture discipline.
Experience
- A minimum of 7 years interior design or architectural experience in hospitality, retail and or commercial fit out design.
- Retail design management experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Comprehensive negotiation, mediation, conflict management and customer retention skills.
- Leadership & ability to develop a high-functioning team.
Ideal Capabilities
- Excellent end to end understanding of shop opening process, including knowledge and understanding of services design principles.
- Demonstrate project management skills and excellent understanding of building / manufacturing and shopfitting and construction techniques.
- Basic understanding of place-making principles, benefits of creating place-based outcomes and application in a shopping centre environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to sell an idea, influence and engage key stakeholders, ability to adapt messaging to be appropriate to audience.
- Utilise design-led thinking to devise creative solutions to complex multidimensional problems.
- Highly creative with the ability develop unique design concepts and design customised solutions to meet specific project objectives.
- A human centred approach to design, focusing on the way users experience spaces.
- Ability to understand and interpret customer research and create tailored place experience and design solutions to meet customer expectations.
- Ability to interpret trends - place, consumer and design and to apply these to a shopping centre environment.
- Ability to work across multiple projects and sites at various stages.
- Ability to assess the merits of proposal and provide recommendations for improvements / alignment to meet project objective and / or vision.
