This is an exceptional career opportunity for a highly motivated retail professional who is passionate about the sector and is driven by success and the journey to get there.
This well-regarded Australian retailer is a household name and is known as a leader in their field with high levels of customer service, a quality product range, modern store fit-outs, and an in-house culture that recognises, develops, and rewards staff. The desire for excellence in all they do flows from the top through a highly successful CEO who stands tall among their peers.
You will lead a team of district and regional managers to grow sales and profit while enhancing the in-store customer experience, and constantly driving strategies and programs to ensure continuous improvement. Building a collaborative culture that strives for excellence through empowered accountability and monitoring retail KPIs - Team engagement, Team retention, Net Promoter Score, Revenue, Margin, and Cost of Doing business are also key components.
The successful candidate will have a successful track record within a major retailer in a similar executive-level Head of retail management role. A background in areas such as department stores, DDS, Supermarkets, Liquor, category killers, pharmaceutical/beauty, apparel and fashion, and automotive could all be ideal. However, of equal importance is the sophistication of the processes, the retail standards, the quality of VM, the culture and values, and the understanding of retail metrics such as SQM you've been exposed to.
As an inspirational leader, you understand the importance of team development to deliver top-quartile team engagement, as well as creating and delivering training programs that build team capability that maximize personal and business outcomes.
An ability to drive a high-performance culture within large store-based teams, to problem solve, to pay attention to detail, and to hold teams to account while driving agreed business standards to achieve commercial outcomes are also key.
Other qualities sought include:
- Solid commercial, financial, and analytical skills
- A real passion and excitement for the retail industry - the levers within and the future it holds.
- Driven by success and the journey to get there, you're an expert communicator who can be hands-on when needed, but also has a strong ability to delegate responsibility and collaborate across a range of departments.
- Relevant business qualifications (preferred).
Ideally, the role will be Sydney-based - however, those in Melbourne and Brisbane should still apply. An appropriate salary package, a real opportunity for career progression within a fixed period, and STI will all ensure the right candidates are attracted. Please note, that those earning above $350k base are also encouraged to apply.
