We seek an experienced and motivated Retail Shop Manager to lead our team of staff and volunteers in achieving sales objectives and fostering a positive customer experience for all. The Retail Shop Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of shop operations, including team management, customer service, inventory management, and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
Along with this opportunity, we are seeking applications for 2 other Shop Manager positions available at Kidman Park and Mount Barker (see separate listings).
About Us:
The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc. is a major international charitable and voluntary organisation that has been operating in South Australia since 1884. Our principal role is to provide for, or alleviate, the needs of disadvantaged people in the community.
Our retail network of stores plays an important role in delivering on our Mission, as proceeds from sales go directly into funding various programs such as providing emergency relief, accommodation assistance, food support, and other services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organise teams and work areas in alignment with the Society's values.
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of volunteers/employees to achieve sales objectives.
- Ensure exceptional customer service.
- Oversee all shop operations, including donation sorting, pricing adherence, inventory management, and WHS compliance.
- Develop and implement effective visual merchandising strategies.
- Manage sales and expenditures to budgets set.
- Ensure adherence to Society policies and procedures in day-to-day operations.
- Execute necessary administrative tasks and reporting obligations.
- Perform opening and closing procedures for the store, including associated tasks.
What we are looking for:
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing retail stores and meeting financial targets.
- Proven people management skills, including effectively leading, motivating, coaching, and developing diverse teams.
- Retail fashion experience and an eye for styling and detailing.
- Proven ability to analyse and merchandise stock to maximise sales.
- Accreditation in Retail Operations/Management (preferable).
- Experience working in a membership-based organisation to support and empower members and volunteers (preferable).
- Understanding of and commitment to the Ethos, Mission, and Values of the Society.
Special Conditions:
- Employment is contingent upon satisfactory National Police Checks and pre-employment health checks.
- Working a 6 and 4 fortnightly roster.
- Every 2nd weekend work.
- The Retail Shop Manager position is physically demanding, requiring lifting, standing for long periods, and other tasks.
- A valid driver’s Licence (Class C) is preferred.
