Specialist Rheumatologist - Leave cover 26 August 2024 –20 October 2024 - 21 hours per fortnight

The Rheumatology Unit at Melbourne Health is one of the major rheumatology services in Australia, acting as a tertiary referral centre for North-Western Melbourne and rural Victoria. The unit deals with the care of complex patients with multi-organ inflammatory and autoimmune disease, as well as more common musculoskeletal diseases. The unit provides six outpatient clinics per week and a daily medical and nursing telephone/telehealth clinic. There are four inpatient beds situated on 9 East and approximately 50 patients attending 5 West Day Medical Centre every month for regular biological therapy infusions. The Unit has active teaching, training and clinical research programs.

The Role: Consultant rheumatologist providing care for rheumatology outpatients and supervision of trainees and fellows attending the clinics.

Schedule: Rheumatoid Arthritis clinic on Wednesdays 09.00 to 12:30, Spondyloarthritis clinic on Thursdays 09.00 to 12.30 and Biologics clinic on Thursdays 13.30 to 17.00

About You: - Must have an RACP Fellowship in Rheumatology.

- Must hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia.

- Must have experience in the independent assessment and management of complex rheumatic conditions and the use of biologic and targeted synthetic therapeutics

- Well-developed communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
