Our Opportunity

As the Resource Recovery Manager, you will support the delivery of Mirvac's operational target to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2030. This role will be accountable for developing and delivering waste management strategies and engage with external stakeholders to achieve cost savings, efficiencies, waste diversion, maximum Resource Recovery and circular economy outcomes. As well as develop and deliver training on waste management and Resource Recovery.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain a roadmap to achieve zero waste to landfill
  • Implement Resource Recovery projects, working closely with Facility Managers, Tenants, Cleaners and Waste Contractors
  • Engage with tenants and Asset Management Teams to promote source segregation, cost savings, efficiencies, waste diversion, maximum Resource Recovery and circular economy outcomes
  • Engage with tenants to acquire volumes/information on tenant managed waste materials to comply to external auditing requirements
  • Source, collate and analyse waste and recycling data and report performance against targets
  • Present recycling and waste data to tenants, Asset Management teams and internal/external stakeholders
  • Provide training to Asset Management team members to expand knowledge and capability throughout the portfolio
  • Lead and facilitate monthly performance review meetings with Asset Management teams, cleaners, and waste contractors
  • Provide Resource Recovery and waste management expertise to support Mirvac's procurement team within the tender process to achieve Mirvac's zero waste to landfill and recycled content targets
  • Support Mirvac's procurement team to ensure social enterprises are included in the tender process to maximise opportunities for Social Enterprise businesses to meet Mirvac's ESG targets
  • Provide support to Mirvac's development and design team on new projects/assets to ensure adequate and minimum design standards for maximum operational Resource Recovery outcomes
  • Schedule annual waste audits across the Mirvac portfolio, review and as applicable support the implementation of initiatives and recommendations
  • Provide support to internal stakeholders on tenancy de-fits / fit-outs to achieve maximum Resource Recovery outcomes
  • Review and update individual asset's annual Waste Management Plans in conjunction with Mirvac HSE requirements and relevant waste industry regulations and standards (e.g. BBP)
  • Communicate Resource Recovery opportunities throughout the portfolio and support the development of case studies
  • Attend waste industry events and forums including the Sydney Better Building Partnership
  • Perform site reviews and data audits to ensure waste reports are accurate, consistent and include the appropriate due diligence is achieved
  • Benchmark performance across the Mirvac portfolio and external industry peers
  • Research and apply for applicable Govt. and/or industry funding opportunities

Your point of difference

  • You will have demonstrable experience in Resource Recovery and waste management ideally within the property industry
  • Strong experience of data management, analysis, reporting and data auditability
  • Demonstrated experience of enhancing property recycling rates
  • Demonstrated experience of working with tenants to implement Resource Recovery initiatives
  • Understanding of legislative waste requirements
  • Curious mindset and passion for Resource Recovery and circular economy principles
  • Strong stakeholder management capability
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • High attention to details
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Superior organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
