Our Design & Construction department at Scentre Group is responsible for the end-to-end process from concept to delivery of our Westfield living centres. An integral part of this is the extensions and upgrades to existing centres. We develop and deliver designs that reflect the Westfield experience and latest thinking while optimising costs and providing speed to market that exceeds the best achievable by alternate delivery methodologies.

Your opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk Management Coordinator- Construction to join our project team based in Sydney, working on on exciting projects. As the Risk Management Coordinator, you will take the lead role in the promotion of positive Health and Wellbeing behaviours on the project to achieve a “People Protecting People” focus with the project team and other stakeholder’s.  This role works across multiple centres across NSW and is an Afternoon/ Night Shift opportunity.  In conjunction with the project team, you will minimise project risks and facilitate compliance with Scentre’s environmental & WHS policies and procedures.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Regional role overseeing contractor works across multiple centres in NSW
  • Hybrid working hours / split shift
  • Completing regular site inspections, reviews and audits
  • Assisting in the delivery of contractor education, training & toolbox Talks
  • Reviewing Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Subcontractor documentation
  • Act as facilitator for the Project in matters concerning risk assessment, prevention of accidents, injuries, hazards and the promotion of WHS and Scentre "People Protecting People" Culture
  • Facilitate through the Project team, the management of all environmental & WHS activities to ensure that Scentre’s policies & procedures are complied with, including accurate & proper record keeping of these procedures
  • Develop, implement and monitor the emergency procedures required on site, in conjunction with the Safety Committee/Project Management and local emergency services as appropriate.
  • Investigate & report on all accidents and ‘near misses’ on the Project (within escalation procedures) and ensure learnings & trends are identified and actioned
  • Participate in all health & safety inspections. These may include Safety Committee/Representative inspections, task specific inspections or inspections by legislative bodies.

You hold a strong background in similar roles and industries, with a passion for Risk and Work Health Safety, working on major commercial and retail construction projects. You have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet conflicting deadlines while willing to work in a progressive and fast paced environment.

As this position provides dedicated support to the Risk function of the Design and Construction team, you will also have a commitment to your own and others health and safety in the workplace.

  • Demonstrated experience in similar or related role ideally within a trade or construction
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications within Workplace Health and Safety
  • Proven ability to build, manage and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships
  • Capability in driving and influence change within the workplace.
