About the role:The Bathurst Management Area is a large and important part of the FCNSW estate, with the local infrastructure management team maintaining a significant network of roads to support the local forest industry, firefighting and recreation. This role is responsible for the supervision of multi-disciplinary roading staff and a broad contractor base and is involved in a wide variety of activities, including: Supervision and support for a team of experienced plant operators who report to them.The safe operation of medium/heavy plant.Ensuring the cost-effective, safe, and timely programming of road works, ongoing maintenance of forest roading infrastructure to a standard that meets harvesting, haulage, fire, stewardship, plantation stewardship and public access needs.Planning and implementing Forest Operational Plans for maintenance and construction of roads and crossings.Deployment of heavy plant contractors and materials, to enable efficient scheduling and completion of works.Operational Compliance Monitoring of contractor performance to strict environment and safety compliance standards. Including assisting with or managing selected quarry operations.We would love you to have:Sound experience and knowledge of roading construction and maintenance operations, including a good understanding of cost/quality requirements, ideally within a forest context.Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn plant production capabilities.Experience in field forest operations a at grass roots or management level is desirable.Experience with the operation of medium/heavy plant, including a willingness to attain or hold a Heavy Combination - HC license to shift heavy plant with a tri-axle plant trailer.Ability to efficiently develop site-based plans using planning systems.Ability to manage an operation according to the site-based plan.Well-developed planning, supervisory and contractor management skills.Well-developed communication, team building and interpersonal skills.Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook.Knowledge of and willingness to learn Geographic Information Systems for Mapping.
