ABOUT THE POSITION
  
Utilise your unique technical knowledge in this newly created position and contribute to the development of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) for the defence and marine science industries.

Key responsibilities of the role:
  • Research, develop and prototype new concepts to solve engineering challenges
  • Create testable, maintainable, secure, and high-reliability code
  • Contribute to our real-time autonomy software stack using C/C++
  • Contribute to our front-end UI stack using Python, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery
  • Assist with tank testing and sea trials of our AUVs
  • Cooperate with the software and product development lifecycle using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on engineer who is energised by complex problems and the opportunity to innovate.  You will have a natural curiosity, be comfortable engaging with problems that are not fully defined and be proactive in seeking knowledge of new technologies.
  
Your ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment with a natural ability to engage and influence others will be highly regarded.
  
To be successful in this role you will require:
  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Robotics, Physics, Engineering, Mechatronics or similar field
  • Industrial experience programming for embedded / real time software systems
  • Experience with C/C++ and Python software development
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and ability to prototype electronic circuits
  • Understanding of web development technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery)
  • Exposure to sensor integration and control systems using UART/RS232, I2C, SPI, Ethernet
  • Software version control and management (Git, GitHub, JIRA)
  • Experience with AUVs, ROVs or general robotics environment
  • Australian permanent residency or citizenship
LOCATION
  
This is a permanent role based at our Bibra Lake facility.  Flexible working arrangements are available.
