AUTONOMA is a small Robotics & Automation company, based in Osborne Park, Western Australia. AUTONOMA are the experts when it comes to process automation, either in the physical or digital worlds. Utilising the latest in AI and industrial automation, we work with our clients to develop bespoke solutions for their specific process problems. Guided by the 4D’s of automation which are tasks that are dull, dirty, dangerous, or difficult for humans to perform, we offer high-quality robotic or software solutions to improve safety and efficiency. This allows people to focus on high value tasks that cannot be performed by robots and fosters a safe and efficient collaborative working environment between people and automation.

Position Overview

You will be an integral part of our team, ensuring that our equipment operates at maximum efficiency. As an Automation & Robotics Engineer you will be responsible for service and support of our automated robotic equipment. This includes all phases of a project including installation, commissioning, handover, ongoing maintenance, and breakdown support. The role is hands-on and requires an electromechanical mindset to perform the service work and troubleshooting required.  There will be local and international travel required as part of the role, including ad-hoc periods of remote site work, however it will be primarily Perth based. 

The role is client facing, so good communication skills and a friendly demeanour is essential. We are ultimately looking for a candidate who can eventually lead our technical department as we grow the team in the future. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation of Automation and Robotics systems across the whole project lifecycle.
  • Use of hand tools
  • Document creation including service reports, JHA’s, risk assessments, emails etc.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits and maintenance to ensure optimal performance of automation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to juniors.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in Automation and Robotics technology.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners when necessary.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Right to live and work full-time in Australia.
  • C-class driver’s license and own reliable transport
  • Relevant degree or experience in Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 5 - 8 years of proven experience in implementing and maintaining Automation and Robotics systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, C# or Java.
  • In-depth knowledge of PLC programming and industrial control systems, including SCADA and HMI systems
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA and SIEMENS S7 will be advantageous
  • Experience with robotic simulation and modelling software will be advantageous but not necessary
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively.
  • Strong IT skills including experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office / SharePoint
  • Experience in document control systems and the EPC project life cycle
