Robotics Engineer

Job Description:Robert Half is currently recruiting for a Senior Robotics Engineer on behalf of our client, a leader in advanced technology solutions. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the development and deployment of cutting-edge robotic systems and automation solutions, participating in all phases from ideation and design to implementation and testing.Key Responsibilities:Robotics System Design & Development:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
• Design, prototype, and develop robotic systems ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Develop and implement control algorithms, sensor integration, and communication interfaces.
• Communicate progress and updates to project stakeholders, maintaining high levels of customer service.
• Work closely with global management and engineering resource pools to leverage knowledge and expertise.

Software Development:

• Develop and optimise software for key robotic systems, including integration, motion planning, perception, and positioning.
• Collaborate with the team to refine algorithms for various applications.
• Define and adhere to appropriate software development methodologies, frameworks, and standards.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Rust required.

Testing and Validation:

• Develop and execute comprehensive testing protocols.
• Identify and address issues through rigorous testing procedures.
• Collaborate with quality assurance and field validation teams to uphold reliability and safety standards.

Knowledge Management:

• Mentor engineering staff and contribute to design reviews and solution delivery.
• Maintain documentation covering all aspects of the robotic system, including design specifications, code, and testing procedures.

Improvement & Innovation:

• Identify and suggest improvements to existing processes, systems, and procedures.
• Investigate equipment failures and recommend remedial actions.

IP and Patent Management:

• Prepare documentation for patent management on all robotic and automation designs.
• Manage assigned IP product and system portfolios.

QA / QC:

• Respond to QA/QC instructions and ensure all engineering work conforms to appropriate standards and ISO9001 requirements.

Qualifications:Essential:

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Proven experience in the design and implementation of robotic systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Rust.
• Familiarity with code management tools (GIT, JIRA, Confluence).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.

Desirable:

• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Higher tertiary qualification (e.g., Master's degree) in relevant fields.
• Familiarity with robotics simulation tools and software.
• Solid understanding of control systems, motion planning, and sensor integration.
• Experience in the mining or adjacent industries.
