Room Leader - Early Childhood Educators

  • Salary Range Band 5 $76,848 - $88,969 plus 11% super  
  • Permanent full-time 
  • Located across our children’s services sites in St Kilda, South Melbourne and Port Melbourne

We are a vibrant and diverse inner-city council stretching 20kms from South to Port Melbourne along the stunning bay beaches down to Elwood and out to St Kilda East with around 1000 people who all work together to deliver more than 100 programs and services to our engaged community of residents, businesses and visitors. Expectations

  • Provide a safe space for children to play, learn and grow     
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with children, families, colleagues, the service and community 
  • Document children’s learning and development 
  • Work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team
  • Actively work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement an innovative early learning program reflective of current early years thinking and practice.
  • Document children’s learning and development.

Who we are looking for 

  • People with dedication, positivity and a genuine passion for helping to positively shape the lives of young children
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team
  • Experience working in Early Childhood
  • Experience in leading and mentoring small teams
  • Ability to work with all age groups (specifically children under 3)
  • Sound, practical working knowledge and implementation of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Diploma in Children’s Services

Important pre-employment requirements   

Prior to a formal letter of offer, preferred applicants will be asked to provide:           

  • Evidence of qualifications 
  • Evidence of current first aid certificate, current CPR certificate and working with children’s check  
  • Sufficient proof of right to work in Australia, and proof of identity.  
  • Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination or valid medical exemption in line with City of Port Phillip Vaccination Policy  
  • Complete a National Police Check completed via City of Port Phillip’s Provider. 
  • And be required to undertake a pre-employment medical check (at the cost of the council)
