Working Arrangements: Full or part-time, minimum of 0.6 FTE. Onsite, remote, or hybrid working. Meetings online, regular, and as required.
Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled Ruby Developer to join a dynamic team, contributing to the extension of an existing Rails application for the support of additional data types. This role offers a unique opportunity to be a part of impactful projects within a collaborative and innovative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the development team to enhance and extend the functionality of the existing Rails application.
- Develop high-quality online interfaces for data entry and updates.
- Utilise technical skills in Rails, Ruby, Postgresql, JQuery, Bootstrap, Minitest, Git, AWS hosting, and Jenkins to deliver robust solutions.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills, effectively communicating and collaborating within a small team environment.
- Adapt to varied working arrangements, including onsite, remote, or hybrid options.
- Proven track record in developing high-quality online interfaces for data entry and updates using the Rails framework.
- Excellent technical skills (50%):
- Proficiency in Rails, Ruby, Postgresql, JQuery, Bootstrap, Minitest, Git, AWS hosting, and Jenkins.
- Teamwork and communication skills:
- Ability to work productively in a small team environment.
- Willingness to explain, listen, and discuss code and tasks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience or interest in working with biological taxonomy data, including names published in accordance with the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN) and the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN).
