Why Katherine Family Medical Practice and Katherine Hospital?

Katherine Family Medical Practice - “Caring for the Health of our Community”

Located on Katherine's main street, Katherine Family Medical Practice (KFMP) is a new and modern clinic that offers comprehensive GP care, including general health assessments, care plans, mental health support, women’s, men’s, and children’s health services, diabetes care, workers compensation, and travel vaccinations.

The team comprises administrative staff, a Practice Manager, Nurse Practitioner, and onsite pathology. The hospital features a dedicated team of Rural Generalists and maintains robust collaborative ties with various departments at the tertiary referral centre, the Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH).

Non-clinical opportunities are available including teaching medical students, junior doctors, as well as the chance to contribute to specialised portfolios within the department.

For those wishing to work in the Emergency Department (ED), there is varied and diverse medicine with approximately 16,000 presentations per year, with a mix of adult and paediatric patients. The ED has a close relationship with the Careflight retrieval service, and a developed teaching program for junior doctors. Senior Doctor colleagues in ED are a mix of FACEM and Rural Generalists.

Outreach GP opportunities are also available for those wishing to work in remote General Practice, as NT Health - Big Rivers region extends GP services to Pine Creek and Numbulwar clinics.

What’s in it for you?

  • Attractive remuneration package ranging from $240,445 to $272,485
  • Superannuation, on call and overtime allowances
  • Six weeks annual leave and professional development leave
