With a population of 1,150 and covering 53,935km2 in central western Queensland, Winton's iconic and unique heritage is currently undergoing several key development initiatives that will ensure long-term sustainability and an exciting future for the region, its communities and residents.
Reporting to the Director of Works, you will be managing a small but highly focused team working across a broad range of key Rural Services including musters, stock route operations and critical biosecurity initiatives, as well as ad-hoc projects as required. Budget preparation and management, detailed reporting, and fleet/asset management will also be key aspects of your role.
Ideally with a background in Agriculture or Biosecurity and an understanding of stock route practices and processes, you are a natural leader with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Your management skill base will include astute financial and budgeting skills, effective workflow and resource management and a commitment to continuous improvement initiatives. On a personal level you will have a genuine passion for all things rural and thrive in an environment where your own initiative is your most valuable asset.
