About the role
The Engagement
and Wellbeing directorate provides statewide policy
direction, reform and advice regarding the Engagement and
wellbeing of children and young people in care and
education.
The Assistant
Director, Engagement and Wellbeing is a key leadership role
within the Engagement and Wellbeing directorate of the
Support and Inclusion division of the Department for
Education. The position works closely with the other
Assistant Directors to provide strategic leadership for key
portfolio areas within the directorate. Such portfolio
areas may include behaviour, bullying prevention, child
protection, drugs and alcohol, food and nutrition, gender
diversity, mental health and Wellbeing, trauma approaches,
violence prevention, volunteering and specific programs
(School Retention Program, National Student Wellbeing
Program).
Qualifications
and competencies:
In-depth
knowledge gained through achievement of a tertiary or
post-graduate qualifications, or relevant
experience.
Strong
leadership skills with experience providing strategic
leadership, systems thinking and evidence-based policy
initiatives to establish effective policy and project
management across large organisations.
Proven high
level communication and interpersonal skills with
demonstrated success fostering good working relationships
with people at all levels, with the ability to negotiate
and influence others, whilst maintaining a high level of
confidentiality at all times.

Special
Conditions:
The
successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human
Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to
being employed which is required to be renewed every five years
before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake
RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect
- Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended
course which will be required to be updated every three
years.

Remuneration:
S121-5 $149,582 per
annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
