Your role with us The Safer Communities Planner (Homelessness) will contribute to the strengthening of local networks, and supporting partnerships to undertake a range of health promotion programs, projects and initiatives with a focus on community safety and homelessness.

Reporting to the Health Planning Team Leader, the role will:

  • Oversee implementation of the Boroondara Homelessness Protocol
  • Coordinate Council’s approach to managing complexities relating to health and safety issues that may arise at sites where people are sleeping rough in the municipality
  • Design, research, develop and implement effective community safety strategies, policies and programs around homelessness, social housing, mental wellbeing and social connection, and a range of other issues that impact on wellbeing and safety in the community.   
  • Assist in the identification of current and future community needs, demands, expectations and aspirations as they relate to health, wellbeing and community safety.
  • Establish, maintain and enhance networks with local and regional organisations, community groups and Federal and State Government departments to ensure best practice in community and social planning.
  • Evaluate project outcomes and ensure continuous improvement.

The position is on a part time basis, 32 hours per week (0.84 EFT).

What are we looking for? To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in areas of homelessness, with tertiary qualifications in community development, social science and/or related human services discipline.
 

Your strong communication skills including writing of policy and reports, along with building and facilitating good relationships with community stakeholders will be highly regarded. You will have demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of community safety programs and experience in project management.
