Planner Community Strengthening

  • Full time, fixed-term position until November 2024 (Part time will also be considered)
  • Use your social planning expertise to develop and implement services and facilities that strengthen our community.
  • $96,365 - $104,848 per annum plus Super, plus RDO 

An exciting secondment opportunity for an experienced Social Planner has arisen within Councils Community Planning and Development team until November 2024.

A little bit about the role

Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Community Strengthening, you will be responsible for:

  • the design, research, development and implementation of effective strategies, projects and procedures to facilitate high quality and responsive community services and facilities for our community,
  • working closely with other Council departments and the community to plan and deliver community infrastructure projects, and projects that strengthen neighbourhood connections,
  • collating and analysing demographic data to identify community needs for services and facilities, preparing business cases for community facility projects for Council and funding submissions, and collaborating with colleagues in the community, and
  • strengthening business unit to build the capacity of community organisations.

Policy areas managed by the Community Planning and Development Department include the Boroondara Community Plan, health and community wellbeing, social inclusion, volunteering, cultural diversity, responsible gambling, social housing and homelessness, Community Strengthening grants, disability access and inclusion, family violence, drugs and alcohol, community safety and reconciliation.

What you will bring to the role?

You will be part of a small, highly productive and engaged team that operates in a fast-paced environment. You will thrive on working on a range of complex tasks at once and be agile whilst tapping into your initiative, creative thinking, and project management experience.

You will have experience with managing multiple projects and project partners, and designing and implementing community consultation and engagement. 

Skills and ability to establish and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders, along with strong communication skills, including writing of reports and submissions for a range of audiences.

Experience and Other Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in project management methodologies.
  • Experience in managing customer facing projects that involve engagement with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management, including ability in delivering multiple projects in medium to large corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in management and monitoring of Hospitality licence agreements.

Employment Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in social sciences, or Certificate IV in Project Management coupled with substantial experience in community planning and engagement.
  • Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
