Acciona Rail (previously Coleman Rail) has a strong presence throughout Australia supporting and supplying the country's rail infrastructure, we provide construction services for major rail and transport infrastructure projects Australia-wide.
The Project
Somerton Intermodal Terminal is a flagship project for the freight rail industry and will offer a location that services the longer train profiles proposed as part of the Federal Governments Inland Rail commitment. The new intermodal rail hub located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne is an exciting new $400m Design and Construct (D&C) project that will involve, groundworks, track renewals, heavy duty pavements, structures and signalling.
The Opportunity:
The Safety Advisor reports to the Manager, Safety on the Somerton Intermodal Terminal Project and co-ordinates health and safety systems within the Project, identifies hazards and assesses risks to health and safety, recommends appropriate safety controls to the construction team and provides advice on incident prevention and occupational health to management and employees
Responsibilities:
- Report and investigate works health and safety hazards, incidents, and injuries, including support for case and care management.
- Identify, review, and analyse high-risk activities and implement mitigations.
- Actively ensure that subcontractors and suppliers are complying with legislative, client and the alliances work health and safety and environmental requirements.
- Ensure the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems.
- Assess high-risk activities in conjunction with the appropriate personnel and recommend the best approach to take.
- Have a consistent presence at pre-start meetings, including leading and developing material
Skils and Experience
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in the commercial construction industry, in disciplines such as rail and associated infrastructure.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in safety and compliance
- Proven knowledge of a risk and incident system, including leading risk assessments
