We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor for our client, a leading development and construction company. The Safety Advisor will develop, implement, maintain, and review the organization's HSE management system, ensuring safe work practices and compliance with all safety legislation. This role provides day-to-day HSE support, advice, training, and reporting functions.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and set up all HSEQ documentation
- Conduct site audits for safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures
- Manage and maintain HSEQ databases
- Assist site HSE representatives with documentation
- Organize WHSEQ training for employees and executives
- Manage issue and incident reporting
- Act as Return to Work safety coordinator
- Provide feedback and training on quality updates
- Participate in internal system audits for ISO standards
- Liaise with external stakeholders
- Improve processes and procedures to increase efficiencies
- Organize meetings and general administrative task
KEY RESULTS AREA
- Drive best practice safety culture and outcomes
- Conduct risk management and compliance reviews
- Manage and document incident reporting
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and participate in audits
- Conduct HSE inductions and training for staff
- Perform regular site and equipment audits
- Maintain clear communication and relationships with stakeholders
- Regular reporting to Directors
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Relevant qualification and/or 3+ years of industry experience in HSE/Risk Management
- Comprehensive knowledge of OHS/WHS legislative framework
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and AS/NZS 4801 requirements
- Experience in developing high-quality documentation
- Ability to identify safety issues and develop safety plans
- Strong prioritization and multitasking abilities
- Consultative approach to organizational change
- Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings
- Experience with Workers Compensation, RTW, and Risk Management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Full driver's license and White card (desirable)
QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Essential: Driver's license
Desirable: Tertiary qualification in administration/construction/business
