Barossa Village is currently looking for a part time - hours to be negotiated, Work Health and Safety Advisor to join our Corporate Services team based in the beautiful Barossa Valley
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Work Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Barossa Village’s Work, Health and Safety and Injury Management program supporting and enabling continuous improvement of our positive workplace safety culture.
Responsibilities include:
Work, Health and Safety
- Design and implement comprehensive WHS policy and procedure to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Maintain and continuously improve the WHS and RTW management systems.
- Develop and champion the organisational WHS and Injury Management Plan and annual WHS improvement plan.
- Develop and deploy training with new and existing staff in processes, procedures and standards.
- Manage the reporting and investigation of workplace incidents and accidents.
- Continuous improvement through cyclical review of safe work practices across the organisation.
- Establish and monitor a program of appropriate workplace safety compliance checks.
Injury Management, Return to Work
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the external Return to Work coordinator and Claims Agent.
- Assist in the injury management process to ensure the earliest possible return to work for injured employees.
- Analyse and report on injury statistics, early intervention and claims performance.
- Lead investigations on all claims and ensure appropriate action is taken to reduce future injuries.
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience in a similar Work, Health and Safety role
- Working knowledge of Return to Work Legislation, regulation, codes and practices.
- Proven experience in conducting safety audits
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes and practice around worker’s compensation and claims
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents and implement effective control measures
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Current Class C drivers licence
- Participation in the Barossa Village’s annual vaccination program
