About the opportunity:
Agile Mining has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Safety Advisor at our Peculiar Knob mine site. The role will provide safety services to all our sites located near Coober Pedy. The health, safety and wellbeing of our team members is our priority, and this exciting new role will be a trusted expert reporting directly to the Safety and Compliance Manager and supporting the Safety and Compliance Team.
Key responsibilities:
The key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Safety:
- Ensure adherence to best practice HSE for Open Pit Iron Ore Mining.
- Ensure Leaders and team members are provided with coaching and mentoring to achieve confidence and competence in safety compliance, assurance activities and are proactive in identifying and managing risk.
- Participate in the control of identified hazards where appropriate.
- Provide assistance, and guidance in the investigation of incidents.
- Participate in safety inspection processes.
- Be actively involved in the Agile Mining Contractor Management audit process.
- Liaise with line management, consultants and Government bodies.
ERT:
- Attends emergency response activities which include firefighting, rope rescue, hazardous chemical response, first aid treatment, inspections, audits.
- Work as part of a team to maintain consistency in training standards for ERT members.
Essential requirements:
- Experience working in Health and Safety.
- Emergency services knowledge.
- Understanding of environmental standards.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of work health and safety legislation.
- Understanding of safety aspects of mining and/or heavy industry .
- Technically competent and experienced using safety, risk and compliance systems.
- Experienced in incident investigation, ICAM.
Desirable requirements:
- Experience working in mining.

The successful applicant will be required to:
- Be site based on an 8/6 (this roster may be subject to change)
- Hold a full driver’s license.
