Scope:
Purpose of the Safety Advisor IQ NSW role is to support the site in establishing a robust safety culture, positively identifying safety hazards and risks, developing, and delivering safety training and overall implementing measures to reduce safety incidents from occurring whilst working closely with the local leadership team.
This is a initial 12 month fixed term role with the possibility of an extension
key responsibilities:
- In consultation with the Branch Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, and Specialist Advisor - Safety, lead, coordinate and ensure the completion of the recommended actions provided by SafeWork NSW.
- Lead, co-ordinate and implement the outstanding corrective actions identified in the IQ NSW Action Plan Tracker.
- Collaborate with the staff to identify potential hazards, manage incidents and investigations, and implement corrective actions and opportunities for improvement.
- Complete the required legal and compliant risk assessments as per the regulations for the current workplace.
- In co-ordination and alignment with the Reece Group Safety Team, identify training and skill gaps within the site, and develop and deliver training programs and toolbox meetings for employees, agency staff, drivers, supervisors, and managers to create a more competent and safety-conscious team. This includes the development of specific and specialised safe work instructions for specialised tasks undertaken at the branch.
- Foster a safety-first culture by engaging with employees at all levels, promoting open communication about safety concerns, actively consulting on the development of processes and procedures, providing general safety support, and providing mentoring and coaching to ensure safety is ingrained in every aspect of operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety observations to confirm adherence with Group policies and procedure; ensuring corrective actions are implemented to rectify non-compliance.
KEY SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5-7 years' experience in a safety role within a chemical and dangerous goods type business that transport, stores and handles dangerous goods.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in an environment that is a high-risk chemical storage and handling facility.
- Strong knowledge of Dangerous Goods legislation in NSW.
- Qualification Cert IV in WHS as a minimum
- Working knowledge of Safety regulations
- Microsoft platform Apps (Word, Excel)
- Coaching, training, guiding and advising on Safety matters.
