About the role
An opportunity for an experienced and highly driven Safety Advisor has arisen within our Operational Safety team. In this role, you will provide ongoing support predominately to Train Services (and by extension, its support functions Quality Assurance and Train Crew Rostering) to ensure MTM's Safety Management System requirements are met. You will also play a critical role in:
- Driving continuous safety improvement within Train Services, through collaborative partnership, and active coaching to build safety capabilities of its management team.
- Supporting the delivery of safety strategies driven by Operational Safety and perform day-to-day activities to support the wider Operational Safety team.
- Attending significant Metro Trains Melbourne incidents as the on-call Investigator to commence incident investigation on behalf of the business.
- Will be required to work On-call roster as MTM's on-call investigator.

You will be a highly effective communicator (both verbal and written). Your knowledge of Operational Safeworking practices and operational requirements of the metropolitan rail system will be highly regarded but is not essential. To be successful in this role, you will also need to demonstrate the following:
- Minimum diploma level qualifications in a Health, Safety or Environment related discipline and extensive proven experience.
- Proven experience in conducting audits and facilitating risk assessments.
- Experience in managing and leading safety investigations.
- Proven ability to manage many competing priorities within tight timeframes.
- Strong engagement abilities to develop trust and strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-driven, responsible individual who commits to continuous improvement in your work and quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining compliance with legislation.
