Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced onsite Safety Advisor (WHS) to join one of their Gold Coast teams, with a cultural focus on coaching and team collaboration, and high-quality admin support from Head Office.
Reporting to the Area Construction Manager, their Safety Advisor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety standards are maintained across a massive development with a variety of moving parts. This is a full-time permanent position offering valuable experience and growth opportunities within a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities:
As a Safety Advisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Generating and maintaining all health and safety records identified for the site.
- Conducting daily walk-through inspections to ensure health and safety standards are maintained, with necessary actions taken.
- Conducting weekly site inspections and attending monthly project planning meetings.
- Providing toolbox talks to employees and contractors on health and safety issues.
- Assisting in meeting health and safety objectives and developing the Work Health and Safety Plan for the project.
- Setting up all site induction resources and conducting project site inductions.
- Reviewing subcontractor’s Safety Systems, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and issuing corrective actions for non-conformance of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) issues.
- Reporting performance to Site Manager and Supervisor/s.
- Ensuring incident reports are entered onto the designated system.
- Coordinating and attending Health and Safety Committee Meetings.
- Providing training in company WHSMS, SWMSs & SOPs.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Proven experience in a similar role, on a busy site.
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor management and Australian safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Australian Drivers Licence is mandatory.
