About the Role
Mineral Mining Services is seeking an experienced Safety and Training Manager to oversee the development, implementation, and management of all Safety and Training programs within our mining operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mining safety management, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a culture of Safety and continuous improvement.
The role is based at our head office in Bibra Lake. It will be a requirement of the role to travel occasionally to our Goldfields based projects.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Development
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of safety procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
Training Program Management
- Design and deliver training programs for mining employees at all levels.
- Develop engaging training materials.
Incident Management and Reporting
- Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent incident recurrence.
- Prepare detailed incident reports.
Compliance and Auditing
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections of mining sites.
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits and Training sessions.
Employee Engagement and Culture
- Promote a culture of safety across our contract mining business.
- Engage with employees to understand safety concerns.
- Recognise and reward commitment to safety practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with industry trends in mining safety.
- Identify opportunities for safety program improvements.
- Implement innovative safety solutions.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Work with department heads to integrate safety initiatives.
- Provide leadership to Safety and Training teams.
- Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies.
Qualifications and Education
- Minimum Cert IV in WHS; A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field will be highly regarded.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining safety management with a focus on training.
