About the Role Freyssinet Australia & New Zealand has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Lead to join our National Remedial Division. This role will be based in Mackay, QLD, covering both Mackay and Bowen regions. This position can be full-time or part-time, providing flexibility to fit your needs.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Implement and monitor the Company’s WH&S policies, procedures, and plans.
- Assist Project Managers in performing project risk assessments and developing SWMS.
- Develop, review, and approve Project WH&S Management Plans.
- Identify hazardous substances and dangerous goods, and develop risk control measures.
- Collaborate with management, technical representatives, suppliers, and customers in planning and reviewing quality assurance, quality control, and certification.
- Implement solutions to close out improvement notices provided by safety auditors.
- Audit the safety system as per the company audit schedule.
- Review and report the principal causes of quality loss and non-conformance.
- Investigate all incidents and ensure action has been taken to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with OHS, workplace injury management, and workers compensation legislation, regulations, standards, and codes.
- Report investigation outcomes for all incidents to the NSW QSE Manager, Construction Manager, and Project Manager.
- Establish safety committees and communicate meeting minutes, ensuring actions are completed.
- Retain, review, and procure injury records.
- Maintain site safety statistics and communicate lessons learned with the site team, developing appropriate action plans.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or technical training in any safety-related field.
- First Aid & CPR certification.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Remedial or Construction industry.
- Experience in quality control supervision.
- Experience working in a highly regulated construction environment and dealing with regulatory bodies.
- Current working knowledge of systems, legislation, and procedural compliance.
- Experience in temporary works management, such as scaffolding.
- Advanced knowledge in leading incident investigations.
- Experience working directly with clients, subcontractors, and labor hire.
- Excellent computer literacy.
