KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Operations Support Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating Skillset Limited (Skillset) and Skillset Senior College (SSC) WHS activities through the development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS) and provision of WHS training both within and external to Skillset.
This role is also responsible in coordinating Skillset and SSC Return to Work management and return to work programs.
You will be responsible for:
WHS Management System - coordinate and implement an up-to-date system of WHS policies, procedures, plans and activities that are consistent and coherent across the organisation. Implement emergency response and incident management processes for each Skillset location. Coordinate and manage WHS Committee and Emergency Response Team and develop interactive ways in which safety can be communicated within Skillset’s diverse employee range.
Provide WHS advice and guidance - provide WHS advice and guidance to staff, hosts, apprentices and trainees. Develop Safe Work Method Statements and organise toolbox talk content. Work closely with injured workers and management to ensure effective injury management and return to work plans are conducted and completed in a safe and effective manner. Complete Return to Work Plans and work with management to ensure time off work is minimised.
Safety inspections, training, and safety audits - conduct safety audits and report on findings. Ensure compliance of internal staff WHS inductions and monitor and review WHS induction system and ensure it is up to date and relevant to any changes in policy or procedure.
Conduct and coordinate Accident Investigations - undertake accident investigations, compile reports with recommendations for improvement and consult with stakeholders over the implementation of recommendations
Injury management and Return to Work Coordination - manage all facets of Workers Compensation claims from reporting of injury to closure of claim. Liaise with Skillset’s Insurance Broker, Insurer, injured worker, host companies and health professionals (as required) regarding Workers Compensation claims.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- A minimum of 5 years working experience undertaking WHS or related activities in an organisation, including the conducting WHS assessments, Risk Assessments, and Safe Operating Procedures and Policies. Management of accident investigation an advantage
- A sound knowledge and understanding of the WHS Act, regulations and associated legislation
- SafeWork and or tertiary training accreditation in any WHS / HR field
- A current drivers licence. Frequent travel required across the Central West including, Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Mudgee and surrounds
- Paid WWCC
